GoHighLevel Snapshots Explained

If you run a GoHighLevel agency, snapshots are how you stop building the same funnel twenty times. I build snapshot-ready sub-accounts for agencies, and the same questions come up every time: what does a snapshot copy, what does it miss, and how do you keep one tidy? Here's what I tell them.

What a GoHighLevel snapshot is

A snapshot is a saved copy of a sub-account's setup that you can load into other sub-accounts. Build a polished account once (say, for dental clinics) and every new dental client starts with the same funnels, website, workflows and pipelines in minutes.

What a snapshot usually includes

  • Funnels and websites

  • Workflows and triggers

  • Pipelines and stages

  • Calendars

  • Forms and surveys

  • Email and SMS templates

  • Custom fields and custom values

What it doesn't include

A snapshot copies the setup, not the business data. Contacts, conversations and other customer records stay where they are. Connected accounts (phone numbers, email sending domains, payment and social integrations) also need setting up in each new sub-account.

How agencies use snapshots

  • Niche templates: one snapshot per industry you serve.

  • Faster onboarding: load the snapshot, swap in the client's details, go live.

  • Selling snapshots: some agencies share or sell snapshots to other agencies through a share link.

Build a snapshot that's easy to reuse

  1. Use custom values for anything client-specific: business name, phone, address, booking link, brand colours. Change them once and every page and email updates.

  2. Name everything clearly: workflows, pipelines and funnels with a consistent prefix.

  3. Keep workflows off until set up, so nothing fires before the client's details are in.

  4. Document the setup: a short checklist of what to connect after loading.

  5. Version it: when you improve the template, save a new snapshot rather than overwriting the one clients were built from.

Common snapshot mistakes

  • Hard-coding the template client's name or phone number into pages and emails.

  • Loading a snapshot into an existing account without checking for duplicates.

  • Forgetting to connect phone, email and calendar integrations after loading.

  • Pages built so loosely that the snapshot looks broken on a new client's brand.
